The second phase of the Bristol’s Local Artists project has been to create social media content for local artists.
With 2 features posted, 5 created and another 11 (not yet made) in the queue, the idea has been popular among the local artists. I am hoping that with more posts, a greater following will arise. This increased following will be necessary for the posts to be worthwhile to the bands, even though the only thing this costs is my time…
I have discovered that I am fairly good at creating professional looking graphics/posters/features (see image below). I use procreate to do the whole thing, which takes a while when it comes to writing and positioning text, but the outcome makes it worth it.
The next two phases of the project are in the works, with a gig calendar being generated, right at this moment. Posters from phase 1 are arriving shortly, and will be posted around town in pubs and coffee shops. Unfortunately, the posters only have reference to the Spotify playlist, which is unable to host links to other social media/webpages.
Also created from phase 1, SoundCloud and YouTube playlists. YouTube playlist has just about as many artists as Spotify, SoundCloud is rather short at this moment. Still to come is a Bandcamp playlist, though I think I may have to do this slightly differently.
I am working on a post about how to listen to the playlist on Spotify, I am concerned that people may skip tracks they don’t like, reducing their rating. This will be made better when I am able to create different playlists for each genre, allowing people to choose their preference.
Anyway, all of this takes a huge amount of time and I feel like I am benefiting a large community, however if I do not find a way to monetise this project soon, it may have to come to an end. If you like this project, or feel like it has benefited you, please consider donating to my PayPal or buy me a coffee.
